From the US to Venice to study Italian: I could not have made a better choice! My 7 days of studying Italian at Venice Italian School was an excellent experience. The week I began, the mini group was too experienced for me and after the first lesson I received an email from Diego and Yulia suggesting, if I would like, individual lessons for the remainder of the week at the same price or to continue with the group. I spent the rest of the week and two more days improving my Italian with mother tongue teacher Giorgia who was superb. I learned so much and it was such a fun and rewarding experience. I highly recommend Venice Italian School for anyone who would like to learn or improve their Italian in Venezia. I cannot wait to come back!!!

I recently attended the Venice Italian School for a week long session and it truly was one of the highlights of my trip to Venice. I was in an advanced beginner mini-group class with only one other student in my class. The instruction felt incredibly personalized as we had plenty of opportunities to speak, ask questions and really build confidence in conversation.
The teachers were engaging and encouraging and went out of their way to offer support and motivation! The Venice Italian School also provided experiences throughout the week for us to practice our speaking and engage in "daily Venetian life" such as daily coffee breaks at the local café (San Polo area), a wine tasting event and a walking tour. Learning Italian in Venice and being immersed in the language was an amazing experience and I left feeling more confident and inspired to continue learning. I would highly recommend Venice Italian School to anyone wanting to deepen their Italian in a meaningful and authentic way!

Seven Week Veterans!

My wife and I just finished seven weeks of lessons at VIS, starting with no more than “buongiorno” and “grazie”. We now are comfortably at an intermediate level, able to initiate and participate in spontaneous conversations, enjoy Italian TV and even opera with Italian subtitles and truly appreciate Venice life more.
Daily classes were a well organised blend of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and conversation, with the mother tongue instructors taking real interest in our progress. Lessons were never dry or dull: using the ‘communicative method’, lessons involved a mix of games, challenges, grammar and conversation, a bit of compiti, and much laughter. A very professional Italian course. The small group lessons were very valuable. I had thought that private lessons would be best, but have totally changed my mind. You learn so much more listening to others learning with you, and the vocabulary they bring with them.
The teachers and staff at Venice Italian School are also interested in ensuring that you have an enjoyable stay in Venice - recommending restaurants, events, places to visit and see. They all clearly love Venice and want you to leave with the same feeling. We visited out of the way churches, tasted new food, enjoyed art exhibitions, listened to local musicians and even tried Venetian rowing thanks to their advice. We were surprised at first at how many of the students were there for their third or fourth time, but we totally understand after our lessons, and have already booked another two weeks this year! Grazie mille, VIS!
